The world has no less than 118 places called Berlin. But the risk of confusion is slight – or have you ever heard of an event planner organising an event in Berlin, Papua New Guinea, by mistake? The city’s Olympiastadion is sure to be found heading any list of XXL locations in the city. Where else can organisers plan an event on a world-record track? With event rooms for 1,700 guests and a stadium for up to 74,000 visitors, this location offers enough space for all kinds of large events. From the signature blue athletics track to the VIP lounge and the underground warm-up halls, these facilities all have one thing in common – ever since the 1936 Olympic Games, they are part of a place where history has been written and sporting records made and broken. With 1125 rooms, Estrel Berlin is not just Germany’s largest hotel, but its Estrel Congress Center can also boast Berlin’s largest and most modern congress centre. And with 25,000 square metres for events, it can welcome up to 12,000 guests! As if that was not enough, the Estrel Congress Center is planning to expand – adding 3500 square metres directly adjacent to the Convention Hall II. This development will provide twelve new rooms on two floors, plus an auditorium seating 900 people. This new extension is scheduled to open next year.
 

The Velodrom is among Berlin’s largest event venues. The spreading arena at the heart of the building offers space (without seating) for up to 12,000 people. The Velodrom, designed by star French architect Dominique Perrault, was constructed in the late 1990s for Berlin’s bid to host the 2000 Olympic Games. Today, this is the main venue for Berlin’s cycle racing fans – with the cycle track under the Velodrom’s circular roof home to such legendary events as the Berlin Six Day Cycle Race.

When Hub27 opens this year, Berlin will have a completely new large-capacity multifunctional venue for conferences, fairs and congresses with up to 9500 guests. Set conveniently on the Messegelände Berlin exhibition ground with its landmark Funkturm Radio Tower, Hub27 will open its doors for the first time in September. Apart from a column-free congress and event hall with 10,000 sq. metres of space, Hub27 offers flexible walling and several room variations as well as direct passageways to Halls 1 and 25, conveniently adjacent.

“All change – this train terminates here!” That may have been the call back in 1875 when the first train drew to a halt in Dresdener Bahnhof station, as it was then. With the vast halls of this former station now a heritage site, much of today’s STATION in Berlin’s Kreuzberg district evokes the history of this location. Where once steam engines puffed and whistled, you can now find variously sized halls for events of up to 6800 attendees. So for event organisers arranging large meetings and conferences, it’s well worth planning a stopover at this STATION.

Three levels with a total of 50 halls and rooms as well as a column-free hall for up to 5000 people – no wonder the CityCube multifunctional congress and events arena is an attractive location for all sorts of congresses, meetings and events. And with direct links to the ExpoCenter City and adjacent halls on the Messegelände Berlin exhibition grounds, in particular to Hall 7, event planners have a total of 150 rooms and 180,000 square metres available!

Founded in 1980 as a circus tent near Potsdamer Platz, Berlin’s Tempodrom has become a legendary performance venue. In 2001, it moved to a permanent home, complete with signature circus-style roof, on a site near the old Anhalter Bahnhof station. Today, as a central event location, its main arena and other spaces are available for up to 3500 guests. Five rooms can be booked separately or combined as required – the Big Arena, the Small Arena, the Foyer, the outdoor area – and even a roof terrace!
 

The modern domed building directly adjacent to the TV Tower on Alexanderplatz is an attraction in itself in Berlin’s Mitte district – a regular stop on any tour of the history of East Germany. Today a heritage site, the bcc profits from its exceptional look and location to provide a range of event services. Designed in the early 1960s by East Germany’s star architect Hermann Henselmann, the bcc has space for up to 3000 guests. Moreover, much of the furniture and fittings (from chairs to cutlery) was especially designed for the bcc – perfect for central, stylish and timeless large-scale events.
